Basic Latent Print Analysis
40-Hour Foundational Course – POST & IAI Approved
POST CC# 3680-21202-22001This 40-hour course is designed for students who are new to forensic science as well as those with a basic understanding of friction ridge examination. Participants will build a strong foundation in the discipline of latent print analysis, including the identification of friction ridge detail, proper documentation, and the application of the ACE-V methodology to real casework scenarios.
Through hands-on exercises, guided instruction, and case-based examples, students will learn how to evaluate, compare, and reach conclusions on latent print evidence in accordance with accepted forensic standards. This course is approved by both POST and the International Association for Identification (IAI), making it an ideal first step for those working toward certification or entering the forensic identification field.
